Wine Producers

The Yarra Valley, located just east of Melbourne in Victoria, Australia, is one of the country’s premier wine regions, known for its cool climate and diverse terroir. It is home to a vibrant community of wine producers ranging from historic, family-owned estates to cutting-edge boutique wineries.

Mac Forbes is a Yarra Valley local whose passion for wine was shaped not just by the vineyards around him, but by spirited conversations around the family kitchen table. With winemaking experience across Europe and Australia, Mac brings a thoughtful, hands-on approach to crafting distinctive Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet, and German-inspired Rieslings. His focus on soil, vine health, and expressing the unique character of each site has earned him a reputation for producing honest, vibrant wines that celebrate the essence of the Yarra Valley.

Nestled in the heart of the Yarra Valley, Tokar Estate is a family-owned winery known for its award-winning wines, warm hospitality, and Mediterranean-inspired restaurant. Established by Leon and Rita Tokar, the estate was among the first in the region to plant Tempranillo, now a signature varietal. With sustainably managed vineyards, a renowned cellar door, and luxurious on-site accommodation, Tokar Estate offers an unforgettable wine and food experience.

Yarra Yering is one of Australia’s most iconic wineries, established in 1969 in Victoria’s Yarra Valley. Renowned for its distinctive, age-worthy wines, Yarra Yering combines traditional winemaking techniques with thoughtful innovation and a deep respect for terroir. Under the expert guidance of winemaker Sarah Crowe, the dry-grown, 29-hectare vineyard produces critically acclaimed blends and single varietals, including the flagship Dry Red Wine No. 1. As a certified member of Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Yarra Yering is deeply committed to environmental stewardship, ensuring that this remarkable site thrives for generations to come.

Jayden Ong is a first-generation winemaker in the Yarra Valley, known for his organic vineyards, minimal-intervention wines, and award-winning hospitality. His four distinct wine ranges—crafted from high-altitude vineyards on Mount Toolebewong—showcase purity, place, and precision. At his stylish Winery & Cellar Bar in Healesville, guests enjoy seasonal dishes alongside his acclaimed wines.

Granite-boned and steep-sloped, Denton View Hill rises defiantly from the Yarra Valley floor – an outlier, geologically and in attitude. Planted in 1997, this unforgiving site turns out serious Nebbiolo, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and more – wines with clarity, character and quiet confidence. Newly in the care of the Bishop family – with Kirilly Gordon in the winery and Julian Parrott in the vineyard – the approach is instinctive, curious and always led by the land: expressive, unapologetic, very View Hill. The Bishop family calls the site home, and our small, slightly unhinged, hands-on crew runs on blind optimism, caffeine and the rhythm of the vineyard. There are no formulas here – just vines, slope and season.

Punt Road Wines is a family-owned winery located on a historic 58-hectare estate in Coldstream, in the heart of the Yarra Valley. With grape-growing roots dating back to 1860 and now stewarded by the third and fourth generations of the Napoleone family, the winery produces a diverse range of cool-climate varietals including Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Gamay, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Guided by a philosophy of low-intervention winemaking and certified by Sustainable Winegrowing Australia, Punt Road is committed to crafting wines that reflect both the character of the vineyard and the heritage of the region, making it a welcome feature of Comedy in the Vines 2025.

Helen & Joey Estate, set on 200 acres in the Yarra Valley, has been crafting expressive, fruit-forward wines for over a decade through its three unique brands: Wayward Child, Re’em, and Alicorn. Blending intuition with technique, each wine reflects a distinct worldview and winemaking philosophy. The unicorn emblem that adorns their labels symbolises the values that drive them—grace, persistence, authenticity, and bold individuality. With roots in farming and science, and a deep passion for the land, Helen & Joey continue to evolve, recently expanding with the launch of Re’em Yarra Valley, a new restaurant and boutique accommodation.

Tillie J (Natillie Johnston) is a celebrated Yarra Valley-based viticulturist and winemaker, known for her vibrant, terroir-driven wines and infectious passion for the industry. A four-time Top 50 Young Gun of Wine finalist and winner of the 2023 People’s Choice Award, Tillie honed her skills at prestigious wineries across Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Canada, and Germany. Her journey led to the launch of Tillie J Wines in 2019, debuting with a highly acclaimed Yarra Valley Pinot Noir. With a focus on authenticity, place, and drinkability, Tillie continues to build her reputation as one of the most exciting voices in Australian wine. Happy Days!

You may not have heard of Adrian and Rebecca Santolin – a couple of young(ish), driven, lo-fi Australian winemakers with a growing legion of admirers. They make small batch, highly awarded, heart-driven wines at their winery in the Yarra Valley. Adrian makes the wine, Rebecca does everything else. Their 2013 Yarra Valley Chardonnay was awarded the ‘Best New World Chardonnay’ trophy at the Hong Kong International Wine Show and ‘Best International Chardonnay’ trophy at Decanter Asia. Things got off to a flying start and continue to flourish.

Sutherland Estate has one of the most spectacular vineyard sites in Australia. On high ground at the southern edge of the Great Divide, the cathedral-ceilinged cellar door and large outside deck command impressive views down the Yarra Valley and far into the distance. Birdsong fills the air, and the highway seems far away. The Spanish-origin Tempranillo planted here, a rarity in the district, shows great promise.
